We started our Friday in Helsingborg with our kickoff-event, The sun was shining and our hopes for a great event was high. People gathered and followed us through Helsingborg to pick up trash. We estimated that every person in general managed to fill two plastic bags with trash each, and we were a whole bunch of people.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the weather and the walk through Helsingborg and as a gift for everyone who showed their support we gave them seeds for different kind of plants and vegetables. These were sponsored to us from SkånefröAB and was very appreciated by the participants. All in all we were very happy everything worked out fine. After this long day of good-doing we had to find somewhere to eat and relax for a bit and for those who has dogs it can be tricky to find a place that allows dogs. Luckily we found the perfect spot: Olsons Skafferi, they were super nice and we ate the perfect lunch.
Having finished off in Helsingborg we kept moving towards our next goal, Travemünde in Germany.
Before leaving Sweden many of our friends wanted to say goodbye, it became a little tricky to manage to see everyone before leaving. Maybe we are too numb sometimes because we didn't think that a year would matter that much to people but clearly it's a big deal. We always knew we had the best friends in the world but this made it even clearer that they really are the best! After being left alone on the ferry we managed the ride to Germany very smoothly. Even though it was very unpleasent for dogs there Vattie adapted pretty quickly and slept through the night like a baby.
We knew we had to get to Hamburg from Travemünde so we tried the easiest way there; bus and then a train. However this wasn't as easy as expected with our huge backpacks and cramped areas it was really hard getting around. Vattie being a dog made it also harder but being very nice and adaptable as she is made it easier than otherwise. In Germany its much more common to be afraid of dogs and of course the first people we encountered on the train was scared of Vattie. Could also be that the muzzle makes her look really dangerous.

Later when trying to find the starting point of "Heidschnuckenweg" we immedietly got lost... We even went in the total opposite direction, everything went really great untill we realized we where on the wrong place of Hamburg. The place we tried to find had the same name as the campingsite we did find, wich is why we took the bus further away from our destination. We met a couple at this campsite who understood our problem and decided to drive us all the way to the campsite we actually were looking for. It was however a 40 minutes drive, unbelievable that they actually took 1 hour and 20 minutes of their day to do this for us. Such a nice gesture, we just had to pay them even though they were reluctant to take our money. They were funny and really nice people even though it was hard to communicate when we can't speak German very good and they didn't know much English.

We were then welcomed by the campingsite: Camping Nordheide, and to our joy they were fine with having a dog around and they even let us use their office for writing this blogpost. So we are now outside of Hamburg some hundred meters off our hikingtrail and we can't wait to begin our hike tomorrow!
