a.k.a Vattie
When we decided to get a dog it was obvious for us that we should have an active dog. We wanted a companion for our outdoors adventures, one that could appreciate spending time outside and have the endurance to follow us on our hikes.
The breed we thought was fitting was a Kelpie, an Australian herding dog. It's a medium sized dog with a very sharp mind. We carefully choose a herding dog because they don't like to stray from the herd or pack and keep close to you. But we also decided not to encurage the herding capabilities since we wouldn't want her to herd animals when we are hiking.
Choosing a dog ain't easy and we got help from the breeders, who carefully matched their puppies with their new owners. They learned the dogs attributes and personalities and took that in consideration when we explained what kind of life we could offer the puppy. Luckily the puppy we fell in love with was the same they had in mind for us.
Vattie is a great climber and has been from the start. She is a curious dog and has always enjoyed adventures, even though she can be careful at first. Elevated areas has always been a fascination for her and she loves to walk over bridges or look down rocky slopes or cliffsides. She is a joyful dog who loves to play and just have fun.
She loves the tent, she's always on the go when we're out hiking with her so we know for sure that she will love her life on our walk through Europe.
