Lyon to Saint Chamond

We are very thankful of the time we spent in Lyon, our friend from Sweden came and spent a week’s time with us and our Couchsurfing hosts. The city had much to offer and we enjoyed most of it. Our hosts were a lot of fun and they took the time to show us around and hang out with us. Vattie also enjoyed our time there; our hosts had a dog that loved to play. Vattie got along fine with him and she got to play a lot.

We also found the time to take a train to Vienne and enjoy the atmosphere of the Jazz Festival. The music was amazing and the bands that played were good, sharing some good moments with our hosts and our friend made this one of the highlights of that week.

Once again we had some problems with the delivery of the dog food; it took almost a week more than it was supposed to do which delayed our departure from Lyon a bit. But once we got it we could start our trail which started in St. Chamond and it will take us all the way to Andorra. We’ve decided to go along the GR 7 foot trail and so far we are not disappointed, it is more clearly marked than we thought it would be.

It is a lot of woods and forest trails which helps protect us from the heat but not from getting sunburn. Sun cream is still one of the important pieces of our packs. We had the opportunity to send back home most of the winter equipment so now we’re 16 kilos lighter. So now when we have everything filled up we have a total weight of 40 kilos, and this time we weighed them for sure. There for we now have much smaller backpacks and it feels much easier trekking.

We have also bought a translation book so that we can learn some French while we are here; it’s much harder than what you’d think though since most of the words are not pronounced the way they’re written. But we’ll keep practice; we have one to two months in France to learn some basics.

Hope you liked our livestream on Facebook last week. Á Bientôt!
